Dear Pastors and Faith Community, On behalf of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and our Low Country Alliance of civil rights organizations and ministries, we would like to invite you and your members to join community clergy and our Bishops in prayer for our state’s new SB20 Immigration Law. SB20 will go into effect on January 1, 2012, and many have joined together to voice their concern over the law which many feel will encourage racial profiling and discrimination. Please join us with your congregations for the following events:
SB 20 Prayer Vigil - December 18th at 6 pm: Midland Park United Methodist Church 2301 Midland Park Road, North Charleston *Meet with community faith leaders to pray in a bi-lingual Vigil Service
Unity & Peace Rally against SB 20 - December 19th at 9 am: Washington Square Park 78 Broad Street, Charleston *Join us in a peaceful rally and reverent prayer, along with our Bishops (Lutheran, Episcopal, Roman Catholic, and United Methodist). We will meet at Washington Square Park and walk over to the US District Courthouse (85 Broad Street, Charleston).
